The relocation package is for anyone who is joining CWP in a clinical role at Band 5 or above, who would need to relocate in order to take up employment with Cheshire and WirralPartnership.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join one of our Community MH Teams. Community MH services play a crucial role in delivering mental health care for adults and older adults and this is an interesting new post which will have considerable input to the service improvement work being undertaken as part of the MH Transformation. We are aiming to develop new and innovative ways to improve the services by ensuring that everything we do is underpinned by holistic, person-centred and trauma informed approaches.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate leader, who is passionate about working with Older Adults and thrives within a multi- disciplinary environment to come and join our expanding Clinical Psychology Workforce. The post-holder will take a clinical leadership role in the co-ordination and implementation of psychological care and ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality specialist psychological therapies service for patients and their families/carers, with the emphasis on co-production

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will join a supportive and friendly senior leadership team which includes senior Clinical Psychologists across the Trust and the Head of Clinical Service and Service Managers for the Wirral area. They will also work closely with the other members of the CMHT leadership team, to develop strong working relationships and effective care pathways. Alongside these leadership roles, they will carry a clinical caseload within the Wirral CMHTs, working both directly and indirectly with service users. Alongside direct clinical work, a key component of their role is to provide supervision, consultation and training to the wider service.

We are keen to recruit someone with experience, specialist knowledge and skills of working with this client group . We also value leadership skills and the ability to develop innovative practice and play a lead role in service development. We are looking for someone who can contribute at a senior level to the vision for the service, working closely with colleagues in different parts of the system, including primary care and the third sector.

The post is funded for 5 days but there are opportunities for part-time and flexible working. We prioritise investment in staff training and development as well as staff wellbeing.

Specialist supervision and support will be provided for the post from our Older Adults Consultant Psychologist.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of understanding human problems, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • HPC registration.


Desirable

  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
  • Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.
  • BPS chartered status.


Knowledge & Expertise

Essential

  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
  • Well-developed skills for communicating effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional.


Desirable

  • Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of applied psychology and specialised psychological therapies in working with people with complex difficulties (e.g. severe MH problems personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc).


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist for a number of years.


Desirable

  • Involvement in local and/or national DCP and other professional activities.
