Are you a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion to become a CBT therapist? Do you have some knowledge and interest in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, experience working with young people, and feel ready to take the next step in your career?
If you have a core profession in mental health (this is essential), you may be the just person. Perhaps you are a nurse, an OT, or a social worker, with a desire to develop your therapy skills. We have two available training posts to expand our therapeutic team.
You will attend university 2 days per week. During the remaining part of the week, you will work as a trainee in a dynamic community CAMHS service, under close supervision, working within the limits of your experience for your stage of training. You will need to have flexibility and adaptability and a passion for working with young people, and their families/carers.
We have two posts, one based in the West of the county, in Taunton, the other in the East of the county, in Yeovil.
Main duties of the job
You'll be enrolled in a postgraduate diploma programme, with the University of Exeter, so you must be able to demonstrate an ability to study at postgraduate level. This is part time study and will cover core skills in working with young people and their families, alongside CBT for Depression and Anxiety Disorders.
You must attend all elements of the programme of study and progress successfully through the course. The training will be fully funded, and if you pass the course, you will be offered a full-time qualified position. In return, we expect candidates to stay with us for at least two years after qualifying.
We are actively looking to diversify our workforce and welcome applicants with a broad range of experience and backgrounds, who want to make a difference to their community.
