It is an exciting time at University Hospitals Dorset with the recent merging of two Trusts, resulting in the upcoming new Emergency Department in the BEACH building on the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site planned for 2025.
Due to this expansion, we are looking to increase the size of our Majors ACP team following recent investment. We have an exciting opportunity to join our team of 3 RCEM credentialed Emergency Care Advanced Clinical Practitioners and 4 existing trainees.
We are in search of individuals who have a minimum of 3 years' experience working within the Emergency Department/Acute front door setting, in an existing Practitioner role/ Physical examination course obtained and working a minimum of 30 hours/week.
As a University Hospital, there are many opportunities to develop your career as an ACP. Ongoing training and education is an important aspect of the role with many teaching activities including ACP supervision, junior doctor teaching and a bespoke RCEM trainee development pathway.
This trainee role is at Agenda for Change Band 7 with uplift to Band 8a on successful credentialing with RCEM.
Base Location: Bournemouth and Poole
Interview Date: TBC
Main duties of the job
Successful applicants must be willing and able to successfully undertake a MSc in ACP (if not already obtained) as well as programme of work-placed based education, culminating in credentialing as an ACP with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM).
Successful candidates will be enrolled on an MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner course at a local HEI, undertaking a range of clinically-focused modules in line with the requirements for the role, including independent prescribing (if not already held).
You will also attend study days, life support courses such as ALS and ETC, and regular teaching sessions within the department.
Therefore, the length of the training period may vary, dependent on previous experience and achievement of academic modules and RCEM competencies.
About us
Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. They underpin everything we do now and in the future. They define how we treat our patients, visitors, and each other, our valued teammates and colleagues.
UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme.
This means that some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or long term. Recruiting Managers interviewing for this role will be happy to answer any specific questions that you have about this at interview.
There is a planned move for this service during when this role and base of work will relocate to Bournemouth site . Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder's home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.
