The role of the band 5 Paediatric Nurse is to work in the ward, out patient clinics, Paediatric Accident & Emergency department.
The post holder will work multi-professionally with key members of the paediatric team adaptingthe concept of family centred care.
Working according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, the post holder will:-
Maintaining accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluation programmes of care within the framework of paediatric nursing.
Assist with both direct and indirect care for children, young people and their families/carers.
Assist with advice and support to colleagues, patients and their families/carers.
Main duties of the job
Assist with advice and support to children and their families, and to act as an advocate for children and families in matters regarding their treatment options and choices within the ward,Accident and Emergency department, out patient and satellite setting.
Liaise with other groups of staff in the care of the children, young people and their families.
Provide point of contact for children, young people and their families and other healthprofessionals during working hours.
Work alongside paediatric nursing staff within protocols to reflect the use of integrated carepathways and paediatric nursing.
Liaise with colleagues to facilitate the provision of holistic care to the children, young peopleand families, both within the hospital and community.
Participate in Safeguarding children and Young People within the Trust and ensure that the Trust Safeguarding Policy is adhered to. In the absence of the named professionals provide advice and support for Trust staff when required.

To help maintain a suitable learning environment for staff and act as a facilitator in thesupervision and teaching of junior colleagues and students.
