The Surgical Admissions Unit is a fast paced unit that cares for patients from a variety of specialities including Upper GI, Colo-rectal, Urology, Vascular and Gynaecology and Breast.We are currently expanding our specialist workforce to make us a leading department. We are looking to recruitstaff nurses thathave the ability to prioritise and multi-task in a busy environment who are also able to cope with demanding changing of prioritises and also able to adapt to a flexible approach of working.

Essential

• NMC Registered Nurse (Adult)
• Advanced Diploma/Degree in Adult Health Nursing studies

Experience

Essential

• Experience of caring for patients with acute and long term conditions in an acute setting
• 2 years post qualification experience

Desirable

• Acute Surgical Experience

Technical Skills Competencies

Essential

• Non-IV and IV medication administration including administration of blood products. in accordance to the NMC Standards for Medicines Management
• Basic IT Skills
• Demonstrable ability with vital signs monitoring equipment and ability to recognise the deteriorating patient
• Able to check charts or calculate drug dosages for infusions requiring frequent concentration

Desirable

• Male Catheterisation
• ECG recording
• Venepuncture and Cannulation
