We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Speech & Language Therapist to join our Community team, based at The Redwoods Centre. The role requires someone who is enthusiastic, dynamic and able to demonstrate excellent inter-personal communication skills and a determined commitment to person-centred, multi-disciplinary working. This post offers the opportunity to work in a highly focused and supportive way with those people with learning disabilities who have complex physical health needs across the beautiful county of Shropshire.
We are an award winning service and the aim of the team is to provide specialist and sometimes intensive multi-disciplinary support in the community for people who have learning disabilities. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities in the community is desirable. You will also preferably have experience of working with people who have complex needs, for example those associated with mental and physical ill health, autism and behaviour that challenges. The ideal candidate will be somebody who is passionate about service delivery for this group and can work creatively to secure good outcomes, embracing the values shared by this friendly and supportive team.
You will work with a small caseload of adults and those in transition between school and further education or other setting. You will be using flexible, creative, multidisciplinary approaches and make a significant contribution to the development of high quality local services for people who have learning disabilities in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. Your role will include providing person-centred assessment, advice and interventions related to communication and swallowing. You will work collaboratively alongside service users, families and carers, colleagues in the Specialist Community Learning Disability Teams and other agencies. You can expect specialist clinical training, development opportunities, regular supervision and professional leadership and a warm welcome.
We are currently adopting a blended working model Following the COVID-19 pandemic- which utilises a positive approach to a mix of working form home and our team base, to best suit the needs of the individual and the service to promote flexible working practices.
