An exciting opportunity has arisen within the ICT Department for a 2nd Line Infrastructure Support Engineer within the Infrastructure team supporting the North West Ambulance Trust with a focus on the Telephony and Network.

As the successful candidate, your primary role will be learning the Trust Networking and Telephony systems as well as assisting in day-to-day tasks and project work, of which you may have the opportunity of leading yourself when more senior.

You should have a minimum of 2 years of IT experience, it would be an advantage should you have some exposure to the following: Avaya Red Telephony, Cisco Network Hardware, Aruba Wireless and Palo Alto devices. Less experience would be considered if coming from a health care environment. Most importantly, you will have a desire to learn and a passion for the subject.

From Networking to Telephony technology, you will get to work with an array of technology. Key skills that will help you in this 2nd Line Infrastructure Support Engineer are:
  • Windows Systems
  • Avaya Telephony
  • Aruba Wireless
  • Cisco Hardware

Main duties of the job

This is a good time to join the Team as a 2nd Line Infrastructure Engineer, working on new deployments and improvements as we go through a Digital Transformation programme with plenty of exciting new project work and the ability to influence future developments.

You will be comfortable working under your own initiative, have excellent organisational skills and a flexible approach to work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for this post together with the ability to work to tight deadlines.

The successful candidate should have a good attitude towards working and a desire to learn and be involved in all things within the Infrastructure Team.

The successful applicant will, after a suitable settling in period, join the existing ICT On-call rota for the out-of-hours support of critical applications
