We are looking for a dedicated person to take responsibility for the efficient and effective organisation of the outpatient's department. This includes managing the nursing team and the delivery of the service in a busy, purpose-built Children's outpatient's department, providing a service for West Norfolk and surrounding area.
You will assist in the delivery of a family-centred, clinically effective, and dynamic service for the babies/child's/young person's who use the service. You will be responsible for signposting and referring where appropriate.
You will be supporting the MDT and external service providers, as there are outpatient clinics provided by visiting consultants from tertiary units, including orthopaedics, cardiology and surgery, renal and urology.
Main duties of the job
To provide quality care to children in partnership with families and carers who attend the outpatient department.
Ability to clinically assess children and young people seeking assistance when required. Clinical skills such as venepuncture and competencies in accessing central lines would be beneficial.
To support the provision of evidence-based care for children and young people with a variety of conditions, both short term and lifelong conditions in partnership with the children, families and MDT including non-QEH providers.
Maintain accurate patient documentation to comply with Nursing and Midwifery Council Standards for Records and Record Keeping, legal aspects, confidentiality, and management information requirements.
To communicate effectively with CYP, parent/carers and the wider MDT to ensure continuity of care. Where appropriate can give advice, provide demonstration teaching to parents.
Demonstrate an awareness of safeguarding issues, be able to assess risk and refer to professional teams as appropriate.
About us
There's never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH. We're working on a once in a generation opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art hospital to open in 2030 and we are also carrying out on one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work we've ever undertaken.
Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.
At The QEH we provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, North Cambs and South Lincs.
We are an ambitious organisation that upholds our values of kindness, wellness and fairness. We strive for continuous quality improvement, recently demonstrated in our 2024 CQC maternity inspection rating our services as 'Good', and we are proud to be a place to learn and grow through recognised learning and apprenticeships.
We recognise and reward our 4,000 staff and volunteers, priding ourselves on a community atmosphere and positive team spirit. We have approx. 530 beds across 33 wards and have newly built education and training facilities, a range of modern award-winning centres alongside a talented team of people ready to give you a warm welcome. We love working here and think you will too.
