An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the friendly, dynamic Children and Young People's Therapy Team.

This post has two key elements to it the first is as a speech and language therapist delivering support and intervention as part of the Balanced System in schools within the Folkestone area. The second part of the post is a developing specialist in deafness. We have a dedicated team of therapists working in this area and you would be well supported working within a specialist provision to deliver interventions to a small specialist caseload.

We would prefer someone to take the full role but would consider applications for either element separately.

We have recently implemented SLCN transformation and are now delivering services via the Balanced System through a Link Therapist model for schools.

Situated in Kent, the Garden of England, with easy access to London, and close to the university city of Canterbury, which is vibrant and lively with a theatre, bars and restaurants as well as many historic sites. With Folkestone, Dover and Ashford close by meaning transport links and access to the channel tunnel, Dover ferry port and the Eurostar, making Europe within easy reach.

Main duties of the job

We are a Children and Young People's Therapy Service, recognising the benefits of integrated working with Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy colleagues working together.

We work out of three different localities, The Rainbow Centre in Ashford, The Beacon Centre in Folkestone and the Children's Assessment Unit at Buckland Hospital, Dover. Working with over 90 other therapists ranging from assistants, junior therapists to more senior specialists.

We encourage an evidenced based, outcome focussed approach to meeting the needs of our service users. These posts involves working with predominantly with primary aged children with speech, language and communication difficulties. Full training will be offered to support a developing specialism into the identified specialism. There will be opportunities to work as part of a multidisciplinary team including therapists and paediatricians.

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant.
