NUH Pharmacy is excited to offer the rare opportunity for a 12-month secondment to join our well-established NUH pharmacy education and training team. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our friendly team to help lead on the training and development programme for our band 7 rotational clinical pharmacists.

As a dynamic individual you will contribute to the strategic development of postgraduate pharmacists, including scoping opportunities to cultivate new training programmes for example to support advanced professional practice.

The successful post holder would be a vital member of the pharmacy education and training team with the aim of making sure our post-registration pharmacists have the support and development opportunities they need to build a successful career.

Main duties of the job

You will have the skills required to manage, coach and mentor pharmacists undertaking foundation training and supporting their progression to a band 7 rotational post within NUH pharmacy. In addition you will act as a role model and consistently ensure high standards of training throughout the department in order to fulfill pharmacy professional regulatory and NHS England quality assurance requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist with evidence of working in a broad range of clinical specialties, and the desire to positively influence knowledge, attitudes and behaviours of junior staff as well as your peers.

To be responsible for managing the Pharmacist Band 7 rotational training programme within the trust (including responsibility for developing quality assurance systems to monitor programme delivery).

To provide education and training support to trainee pharmacists and shift working pharmacists undertaking clinical pharmacy postgraduate qualifications at City Campus.

To undertake leadership, management and directorate/service support roles within the pharmacy education & training team.

To partake in specialised clinical pharmacy duties ensuring core clinical pharmacy activities are delivered.

To take full part in the 7 day shifted rota and bank holidays duties

The post holder may be required to work at one or both campuses

Person Specification

Training and Qualifications

Essential

  • GPhC Registered
  • Diploma/MSc in clinical pharmacy or equivalent post graduate qualification
  • Independent Prescribing qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Wide previous experience (post registration) of hospital pharmacy
  • Designated Supervisor for Trainee Pharmacist
  • Experience of delivering Education and Training processes within a hospital setting


Desirable

  • Experience of working with other educational institutes


Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential

  • Teaching one to one, small groups and large groups
  • Good interpersonal and communication and negotiating skills, ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams
  • Teamwork, management and leadership skills pertaining to education and training

  • Ability to evaluate and provide appropriate feedback
