Are you a dynamic and innovative Medical Physicist ready to take on a senior leadership role?
Our hospital is seeking an enthusiastic Lead Medical Physicist to head and enhance our Medical Physics service. Your expertise will ensure compliance with radiation safety legislation and uphold the highest standards of care for both patients and staff. In this pivotal position, you will serve as the Medical Physics Expert (MPE) for diagnostic radiology and as our Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA). If you are not registered for either but have previous experience, we would welcome your application but please include details of how you would be in a position to apply within the year. Here, you will be given the opportunity and support to develop into and apply for registration into those positions but your appointment may be at Band 8a fixed-term for 12 months or until registrations.

Key Responsibilities:- Lead and develop our Medical Physics service, working closely with the Consultant Clinical Scientist and other key colleagues.- Ensure adherence to radiation safety regulations and provide expert advice on radiation protection.- Collaborate with Clinical Radiology to utilise specialist diagnostic imaging equipment across main and peripheral sites.- Play a crucial role in shaping a robust medical physics team, appointing key roles, and fostering professional support within regional networks.

- Masters degree in Medical Physics
- Honours degree in physics or related science - Awarded - 2nd class or higher - in Medical Physics or related science
- Certified as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in Diagnostic Radiology under IR(ME)R-2017 - or eligible to apply within 1 year
- Certified as a Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) under RPA2000 - or eligible to apply within 1 year
