We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and creative Occupational Therapist to lead our Occupational Therapy and MDT Primary Teams in Tower Hamlets.The successful candidate will be part of a stimulating and vibrant MDT where new ideas and innovative practice are welcomed. This position combines the roles of expert clinician with service and staff development, team leadership and multi-disciplinary working. The role also requires working closely alongside therapy staff and our wider partners in the borough.

Our vision in Children's Therapies is to provide care for children and families that is personalised, outcomes driven, based on evidence and contemporary theories of practice relevant to the field of childhood disability.

The post holder will be based at Mile End Hospital, conveniently located between Mile End and Stepney Green tube stations and serviced by a number of local buses.

Main duties of the job

The aim of the role is to provide leadership within the Children's Community therapy team. The post holder is responsible for the day to day operational managerial, clinical and Occupational Therapy professional delivery of the service. The post holder will also lead the integrated Primary Team in line with service objectives. The post holder will continue to have a clinical workload.

  • Experience of working with children in a community setting.
  • Experience of working with children in special or mainstream schools
  • Experience of using research and evidence base to support families.
  • Experience of working with children with a range of developmental difficulties and their families.
  • Experience of working with families with different cultural backgrounds and home languages.
  • Experience of audit, quality improvement and service development and developing protocols and guidelines.
  • Experience of line managing colleagues.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team.
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team (MDT).


Desirable

  • Understanding of how to manage issues such as sickness and absences.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified occupational therapist.
  • Coaching qualification.

  • Masters-level qualification.
