An exciting opportunity has arisen within Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust to appoint a qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) for children and young peoples' day and inpatient mental health and eating disorder services.

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual who wishes to positively influence nursing practice, and improve the physical health provision available to the young people, at Blake Eating Disorder Day Service and Serenity Path General Adolescent Hospital in Winchester, and Bluebird House Medium Secure and Austen House Low Secure units at Tatchbury Mount in the New Forest.

Main duties of the job

Working peripatetically within the services, the ACP role will complement the existing roles within the well-established multi-disciplinary teams.

As a new position for the service, the post-holder will have an opportunity to identify where they can add the most value, and apply their unique skill set to ensure that young people receive genuinely holistic care. Such programmes may include, but are not limited to, supporting young people with chronic conditions, and ensuring that they have the same access to public health and primary care interventions as their peers.

The successful candidate will also contribute to quality assurance and improvement programmes, be integral to developing and reviewing relevant practice guidance, and ensuring the competency of nursing staff in maintaining young people's physical health in a mental health setting.

The post-holder must be self-motivated with great initiative, and skilled in organisation and time-management. They must be confident working autonomously in the context of being part of a wider team.
