The MSK Physiotherapy service in Ealing offers advanced assessment and treatment for complex cases referred by the GP.

The Band 6 post holder will manage a defined caseload, use evidence based/patient centred principles to assess, plan and deliver individual treatment plans. The post holder will undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, with supervision from a Band 7 physiotherapist/ Advanced practitioner Physiotherapist within the Team. This will also involve participating in service training, liaising with GP, and supporting group classes.

The post holder will be expected to promote, maintain and develop a high quality, efficient and effective physiotherapy service to clients in accordance with operational policies of the team and supporting holistic care for the patients. The post holder will be encouraged to develop skills in providing undergraduate placements to students /rehabilitation assistants/ newly qualified Physiotherapist.

Community-based health care in Ealing has undergone a transformation. West London NHS Trust, in partnership with Central and North West London NHS Trust, (CNWL) the Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Trust and some other smaller providers, including third sector, have formed a partnership to provide integrated community health services in Ealing. The total value of the new 10 year contract is about �50m per year.

We have also committed to invest in improved links with local voluntary sector organisations (for example ECIL, Ealing Dementia Concern, Ealing Mind) and other community assets for innovation and flexibility.

We are looking for a highly motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist to work within the Ealing Community Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Service. This is a full time post of 37.5 hours per week.

We have a commitment to clinical quality and service efficiency and can offer a supportive working and learning environment. There is opportunity to work with Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners and Consultant Physiotherapist , Chronic Pain management Service, support supervision, appraisal of junior staff and be involved in a range of innovative service projects, including post covid rehab.

About us

The post holder will be working in community out patients clinic with other MSK Physiotherapist and therefore will be supported with in managing complex caseload including spinal pain. The community team is integrated to support cross referrals to other therapy service and thus support holistic care for service users. The service is fully electronic and committed to improve digital access for service users.

Job responsibilities

  • To autonomously assess and diagnose patients with a diverse range of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic or rheumatology conditions, using appropriate assessment/diagnostic techniques, skills and tools
  • To adopt a problem solving approach, engaging patients and carers in their treatment plan, negotiating on agreed outcomes, gaining consent and educating users on self-care.
  • To evaluate and review treatment outcomes to facilitate discharge of patients.
  • To deliver care in a range of settings including primary sites, clinics, GP surgeries and acute hospital as required.
  • To work with members of the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless delivery of care, provide advice and education within this forum, acting as an expert in your own professional field.
  • To continually review patients progress and refer as necessary to other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate care is provided.
  • To plan and organise a caseload and implement effective administration in accordance with department guidelines on caseload management.
  • To participate in the services Clinical Governance initiatives and thedevelopment and implementation of standards, guidelines and protocols.


Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • oPhysiotherapy Degree/Diploma Physiotherapy
  • oHPC Registered


Desirable

  • Membership of The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or any special interest group


Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • oExperience as a band 5 in all the core rotations of respiratory, neurology, medical, surgical & Orthopaedics.
  • oOrthopaedic out-patient experience as a band 5
  • oAwareness and understanding of Audit and Clinical Governance
  • oAttendance on relevant MSK courses
  • oBroad under graduate experience in core clinical areas: MSK/ Respiratory/ Community Therapy/ Neuro/ Care of Elderly.
  • oAwareness of current NHS policies and issues which impact on the profession and the workplace
  • oAwareness of current issues or developments pertinent to own profession including legal frameworks.
  • oRelevant clinical knowledge base underpinned by broader physiotherapeutic skills
  • oAwareness of own knowledge and learning style
  • oExperience of working as part of a team
