- Participate in the delivery of a specialist clinical service and deliver a high standard of care to all patients.
- Participate in the on-call rota, providing a 24-hour emergency service for cardiac catheterisation labs for adult and paediatric patients.
- Rotate through sections of Cardiac Services department to build and maintain a body of specialist knowledge and apply this to practice.
- Continue theoretical and practical training via experiential learning and designated advanced course attendances in order to develop an understanding of a specialist area of practice.
- Contribute to the delivery of training within the department
Main duties of the job
Perform, interpret and report a range of investigations undertaken indirectly for or directly with patients within a range of care settings in invasive procedures and arrhythmia management.
Perform as lead Physiologist for ETT, Tilt and CSM testing.
- Experience with invasive Cardiology procedures PCI, Pacemaker implant and follow up
Assist with pacing clinics and perform brady PPM implantation with in direct supervision.
Provide independent analysis of Holter recordings.
Inform the Cardiologist urgently when a serious condition is diagnosed.
To be competent in basic Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation technique and following appropriate training be proficient in Intermediate Life Support. Initiate treatment and support Medical Staff during cardiac Resuscitation.

- Detailed knowledge of all Cardiac investigations including specialised procedures
- Excellent written and spoken English
Qualifications
Essential
- BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science (Cardiac Science) or MSc in Clinical Science (Cardiac Science) or BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology or Postgraduate Certificate in Echocardiography or RCCP recognised precursor or Equivalent recognised non-UK qualification
Desirable
- Working towards postgraduate profession related qualifications (e.g. BSE, BHRS, IBHRE)
- Voluntarily Registered with the RCCP (Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists) or AHCS Registration
Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a cardiac environment. Experience with non-invasive Cardiology testing
- Experience with invasive Cardiology procedures PCI, Pacemaker implant and follow up
- Complex device or PCI procedure experience
Desirable
- Accredited Member of the Society for Cardiological Science and Technology
- Effective interpersonal skills
