An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced paediatric nurse to join our Multidisciplinary team within Paediatric Surgery, Spinal & Orthopaedic Services as a Ward Sister.
We are seeking to recruit an experienced, dynamic and innovative paediatric nurse who will bring excellent clinical skills and knowledge, and a desire to maintain a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. You should have an evidence of prior leadership and management and uphold professional standards.
We passionately believe in promoting care and compassion to all our patients and provide a holistic child and family-centered approach to all the children and young people in our care.

Main duties of the job
This post is for a band 7 Ward Sister in the paediatric surgical directorate for Savannah Surgery and Orthopaedics.
The successful candidate willhave knowledge regarding governance and its importance in promoting and maintaining a safe and quality driven environment for patients, visitors and staff.
Joining a forward thinking, patient centred team you will play a lead role in making a positive difference to our patients journey through strong leadership and direction to the team, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice to support day to day efficient running of the unit.
You'll need to be able to take the lead and act on your own initiative, to assess and plan how to meet goals and objectives for yourself, staff and other service users. You will have excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with families and within the multidisciplinary team, both verbally and in writing.
You will act as a role model and provide development, clinical supervision and advice for other staff and students to support them in reaching their full potential

Clinical Duties
- Lead the ward/Department team and build successful links between key professionals to support and promote effective multi-disciplinary team working.
- Manage the department nursing staff, ensuring the patients receive high quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines
- Be wholly accountable for his / her practice in line with the NMC code of professional conduct and takes every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve his / her knowledge and professional competence.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently and liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that patients receive seamless care within the trust.
