We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Improvement and Transformation Manager to join our Improvement and Transformation team at LGT.

Our team aim is to teach, coach and deliver improvement-led change for the benefit of our population and colleagues. We'll achieve this by:
  • Providing specialised improvement and transformation expertise, using an improvement led approach to support both bottom-up and top-down priorities
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement behaviours and habits, that are enabled by leadership and runs through everything we do
  • Building capability in improvement, so that everyone is empowered with the knowledge and tools to make changes in their everyday work and in the things that matter most to our colleagues, patients and communities
  • Networking and collaborating with other departments, groups and system partners to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Facilitating the routine use of measurement for improvement principles to understand, track and improve performance

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Improvement and Transformation Lead the postholder will strategically lead and enable delivery of improvement and transformation programmes and projects that are aligned to our strategic goals. They will support the creation of a culture of continuous improvement across the Trust and wider system including in our three Local Care Partnerships of Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham and in our Integrated Care Partnership and Acute Provider Collaborative. Key to the role is the use of a broad range of transformation skills to support teams to improve population outcomes, the quality, safety and experience of patient care, and staff experience.

The postholder will lead on the design and implementation of improvement and transformation programmes that deliver evidence-based solutions to our strategic priorities. This includes developing and delivering project and programme plans, designing and delivering projects using agreed improvement methodologies, risk management, budgets, business cases and benefits realisation plans. The postholder will provide updates and high-level communication at a strategic level to governance groups and stakeholders. They will also develop plans to integrate programme outcomes into business as usual. The postholder will design and deliver training in agreed methodologies to staff and patients.

    Job responsibilities

    The postholder will be experienced in improvement and project management approaches and have a willingness to learn and develop new skills in line with the improvement and transformation operating model and training package. They will have a track record of establishing and maintaining good relationships to deliver sustainable change programmes across complex pathways with multiple stakeholders. They will work closely with clinical/professional and corporate teams at all levels, both internally and externally, to ensure projects and programmes are delivered to agreed objectives within agreed timescales. They will also work closely with patient and public representatives to ensure they have an equal voice in change.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications and Training

    Essential

    • Masters or equivalent
    • Evidence of continuing professional development in quality improvement and project management
    • Evidence of continual personal learning and development in the field of education and training, including the development, delivery and evaluation of education and training


    Desirable

    • Project management qualification
    • Quality Improvement qualification
    • Postgraduate qualification in business/leadership or working towards / equivalent experience


    Experience

    Essential

    • Experience in project management and improvement delivery at a senior level with evidence of leading and managing large scale improvement projects in the health and or community setting to solve complex problems
    • Management experience in the NHS or another sector to include experience at senior level where change management skills have been required within the post
    • Experience of analysing complex data with multiple components of information in both qualitative and quantitative formats
    • Experience of undertaking audits and using measurements for improvement methodology within change projects
    • Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders
    • Experience of leading on large scale organisational change enabling transformative practice is embedded
    • Successful track record of staff, financial, performance and change management
    • Contributing to income generation
    • Evidence of building effective working relationships with clinical leaders, partner organisations and other stakeholders


    Desirable

    • Experience of using quality improvement methodologies
    • Experience of working on estates or other capital projects

    • Advanced keyboard skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to write reports, letters, project plans and policy
    • Demonstrate ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate a way forward involving both internal and external stakeholders
    • Ability to act independently with minimal guidelines

    • Skills in delivering and leading service redesign training to groups of diverse health professionals

    • Knowledge of research, audit, data collection and analysis methodologies
    • Specialist knowledge, practical application and experience in change management, modernisation, service redesign, facilitation and successful implementation of service improvements at a senior level
    • Competent in theory and application of service improvement tools and techniques
    • Knowledge of improvement methodologies
    • Awareness of the theory of change management
