The post is suited to Senior ANNP to work on the medical neonatal intensive care Tier 2 rota who seek further experience and training in Neonatology.
We seek to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Senior ANNP to work within the Neonatology Directorate, part of the Perinatal Division of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust at The Royal Oldham Hospital on the Level 3 Neonatal Unit.
Main duties of the job
You will work exclusively within the Neonatal Unit on a full shift Tier 2 rota (second on-call) (1 in 10) with senior paediatric trainees, senior neonatal clinical fellows and senior ANNP. The Neonatal Unit is one of Greater Manchester's 3 tertiary Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) and has 9 Intensive Care cots, 9 High Dependency cots and 19 Special Care cots, and offers the full spectrum of medical neonatal care. The state-of-the-art unit is housed in the new purpose-built Women and Children's Building. The unit is led by a dedicated team of experienced consultant neonatologists.
You will be expected to continue your professional development and ample training opportunities are available within the department. The Trust has links with University of Manchester for undergraduate training of medical students and is a major contributor to several research studies in the region. Job responsibilities
The Senior ANNP will contribute to the delivery of a responsive, high quality neonatal service working as part of the Tier 2 medical rota. Within their role they are expected to take on leadership skills as well as contributing to quality improvement projects, research, audit, and service development.
They will use their advanced skills and knowledge to assess, plan implement and evaluate care for a range of neonates. They will perform neonatal invasive procedures I the care of infants, request and review a variety of investigations to initiate, alter or update medical management plans.
The post holder will be responsible to maintain and enhance professional standards of care across the spectrum of Neonatology and contribute to the professional development of the wider ANNP and neonatal nursing team, as well as ensuring their own development is maintained.
Within the Senior ANNP role there will be line management responsibility for the ANNP team based at Oldham.
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a range of procedural competencies within the neonatal intensive care and attending high risk deliveries, utilise their advanced skills and knowledge to lead in challenging decision making.
