An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Manager in Substance Misuse to join the Offender Health Directorate working at HMP Ranby isCategory C prison.
To be responsible for the service delivery and leadership of the Substance Misuse Team within the Prison. The Substance Misuse Team is part of the Healthcare Department which also provides Mental Health and Physical Health services, all of which work together to provide an integrated Healthcare Service.
To be responsible for the day to day organisation and smooth running of the multi-disciplinary team providing a service to a diverse caseload of patients who are presenting with substance misuse problems, detoxification requirements, including the administration of medicines
To lead and coordinate a team of healthcare professionals in the delivery of effective clinical and psycho-social management of patients who have a wide range of health issues.
Main duties of the job
Healthcare delivery in prison is never dull or predictable - itis very rewarding. Every day will bring new challenges and new experiences to you as a qualified professional.
The role of the Clinical Matron/ Service Manager is to manage the Substance Misuse pathway and the staff working within it, providing supervision , clinical expertise and advice for those involved in the care of the patients with substance misuse issues. The team comprises of mental health nurses, NMP, GP, Psychosocial Practitioners, Psychologists and Pharmacy technicians who together provide assessments, diagnosis , support, harm minimisation and care of patients with ongoing, acute/chronic health and substance misuse conditions. The team provides medication administration , 1:1 care , case management and group work .
The Substance Misuse service covers the prison 7 days a week. The Healthcare team has a good working relationship with the Prison as has been noted by recent reports from Her Majesty's Inspector of Prisons , Public Health England and in a recent Health Needs Analysis commissioned by NHS England.

To demonstrate innovative practice, whilst collaboratively working with multiple stakeholders, maintaining clinical efficacy, enabling the service to compete as provider of choice to local commissioners.
The Offender Health Directorate is one of the largest and most successful providers of prison healthcare in the UK. The Directorate provide physical, mental health and substance misuse healthcare services in prisons across the East Midlands, Lincolnshire & Leicestershire.
The Directorate provides healthcare to 7 prisons and a short term holding facility. You are part of a large peer group of 400+ healthcare professionals with access to peer support, supervision and excellent opportunities for learning and development. We also offer services within the Personality Disorder Pathway, including Therapeutic Communities (within prisons), Community and Prison Personality Disorder services and specialist Veteran Services.
