A new opportunity has arisen to expand the Vascular Clinical nurse Specialist team.
We are looking for a registered nurse who wishes to expand their skills with Vascular Surgery.
The post holder will be a nurse with vascular experience, acting within their professional boundaries, delivering high quality care in an elective and emergency capacity to arterial and venous patients around the vascular network.
They will demonstrate a high level of skill and knowledge working towards independent practice using clinical decision making, including assessment and diagnostic skills caring for patients undergoing surgery and those with longer term vascular complaints requiring specific management.

Main duties of the job
Complex wound assessment and treatment.
Providing evidence based relevant information for patients and their family members both verbally and in writing, based on an individual assessment of the patient personal and health care needs.
Working in the outpatient setting.
Teaching colleagues.
Involvement in change and development within a multi-disciplinary team.
Audit and evaluation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with complex and sensitive information with patients, their relatives and colleagues.

Job responsibilities
To provide skilled assessment of patients with peripheral arterial disease in the outpatient setting, including clinical history taking, performing physical assessment, requesting appropriate investigations and tests and interpreting and acting on the results in a timely manner.
To autonomously consult ( initially with support) both new and follow up patients with peripheral arterial disease, venous disease and complex wounds in the outpatient setting or by telephone consultation across the network.
To demonstrate in depth Knowledge and skills in a range of clinical procedures including patient examination and assessment, ABPI, TBI and complex wound assessment.
To demonstrate a good understanding of complex wound assessment and up to date knowledge of appropriate dressings/ wound management strategies.
