Treatment is aimed at identification and management of needs rather than just a particular diagnosis. We are dedicated to providing gender sensitive care and treatment for women detained under the Mental Health Act. Spencer Ward is the only female low secure unit in South Yorkshire.

Spencer Ward at Cygnet Hospital Sheffield is a 15 bed in patient service providing assessment and treatment for women with mental disorders. We are dedicated to providing gender sensitive care and treatment for women detained under the Mental Health Act. Spencer Ward is the only female low secure unit in South Yorkshire.

On Spencer Ward, our service users are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every individual has the potential for recovery, personal growth and an improved quality of life.

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will provide direct clinical care under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist. This will encompass the use of OT assessments and treatment in both groups and individual sessions. In this role you will help devise and implement an OT treatment programme according to service users diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly. Prioritisation skills are key to manage the caseload of clients effectively and you will work closely with the Occupational Therapist and multidisciplinary team onsite.
