We are looking to recruit an experienced Emergency Nurse or Paramedic Practitioner with skills and experience in managing minor injuries, to join our team.
We are a busy East London Hospital with a dedicated Injuries Unit and Urgent Care Centre. The unit is co-located within the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department sees in excess of 100,000 patients per year. Both services see approximately 30,000 patients per annum and this is increasing.
You will need to be flexible as a shift system operates in both areas and the service operates until midnight. A non-medical prescribing qualification would be desirable but not essential. The ability to work under pressure and autonomously is essential for this post.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is required to take a complete history and perform clinical examination to diagnose and implement treatment for patients presenting with a variety of conditions.
The post holder is also required to be able to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment and discharge patients or refer to a specialist as necessary. As an autonomous practitioner, the post holder will work within their scope of practice and according to broad local policies and procedures.
The post holder must be proactive in promoting health and well-being to patients and give health advice and education, and l act as a mentor and clinical educator to other staff members and nursing students.
You will be expected to further their own education, keep up to date with skills and competencies, monitor and update local policies and procedures and to develop and participate in clinical research.
