An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Psychological Therapist/Applied Psychologist to join our busy Easington South Community Mental Health Team. The post holder will provide governed psychological interventions, complying with the principles of recovery focused work and trauma informed care. It is essential that the post holder is an accredited EMDR therapist.

This is a great opportunity to join a supportive, friendly, and high functioning team.

You will need to have significant experience of working with people with mental ill health in a care setting, delivering clinical interventions specific to care pathways. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You are required to have the ability and experience and qualifications to deliver governed therapies.

You will be supported with regular management and clinical supervision. We use Cells, Huddles, Daily Decision meetings and Complex Case discussions to ensure our staff are fully supported by colleagues and Leadership Team.

Main duties of the job

Carries a caseload, providing specialist psychological therapy, primarily EMDR to clients within the team and where necessary, across the locality.Provides specialist psychological assessment of clients with mental health conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources to establish suitability for a particular psychological therapy and recommending alternative treatment or interventions as appropriate.

Responsible for recognising the potential for or signs of client harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking all reasonable steps to protect the client. Responsible for identifying and reporting concerns regarding the safeguarding of others who may be at risk.

Undertakes risk assessment and risk management for clients.Formulates plans for specialist psychological therapy in own field based on an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based practice. Collaborates on the development and the implementation of such plans with clients and significant others as appropriate.

Implements specialist psychological therapy in own field for individual clients, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations as required.

Provides specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other staff contributing directly to clients' formulation and intervention plan, within sphere of own competence.

  • RMN or equivalent mental health core qualification at degree level post 1993 & post graduate training to an accredited level in one of the Trust's Governed Psychological Therapies sufficient to meet the Trust's training standards for that therapy.
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • EMDR Therapist
Experience Essential
  • Working with people with severe and enduring mental health problems
  • Experience of psychological therapy provision in complex cases
