The post holder will be responsible for ensuring robust processes for reviewing requests for the introduction of new medicines to the formulary. They will also support in ensuring that NICE TAs are incorporated into the formulary within the recommended time. They will support the development and local implementation of a Joint formulary.
The post-holder will have a close working relationship with the Procurement, Commissioning, Medicines Information and other Principal Pharmacists / Pharmacy Technicians across our Trust. Outside of the department, you will work closely with clinicians, partners across the ICS, finance, and contracts team.
The successful candidate will work closely with clinicians and other stakeholders to ensure that our formulary is up-to-date, evidence-based, cost-effective and relevant and responsive to the needs of our patients and staff.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an excellent leadership and management skills, be flexible and work well within a team with excellent problem-solving & time management skills. Applicants must be currently registered with the GPhC as a pharmacist and completed the clinical pharmacist diploma. Successful candidates will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join our Pharmacy team and will lead on all aspects of Formulary across the Trust, managing the introduction of new drugs and associated medicines management pathways, guidelines and protocols.
Key roles include being an integral member and secretary of the Trust Drugs and Therapeutics Committee and membership of the North West London Joint Formulary Committee and Integrated Medicines Optimisation Committee (IMOC). You will work closely with colleagues within and outside of the Pharmacy Department, ICS and other secondary care colleagues within the Acute provider collaborative.
You will have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills you must be able to manage your own workload, motivate and manage others, work as part of a team, and engage at a high level with key stakeholders within the Trust. You should have considerable clinical experience and ideally have previous experience of Formulary and Medicines Management.
