We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic children's nurse with experience of working with children, young people and families living with chronic diseases to take up the post of Band 7 Clinical nurse Specialist in dermatology- specifically responsible for patients and families with EB to cover 12 months maternity leave. Experience of working across acute/community care would be beneficial but not essential. It is not anticipated that the successful candidate will have knowledge or experience of EB however it is important to be aware that extensive travel is an essential part of the job, and the ability to work alone and unsupervised are important requirements of the job.
EB encompasses a group of rare inherited life-long conditions. The common factor within the group is extreme fragility of the skin and mucous membranes. In its most severe forms EB is life limiting or progressively disabling. EB is a rare disorder with approximately 5000 people in the UK living with EB. You will have to opportunity to work closely with the other EB centres in the country, based in Birmingham and London, working together to provide the best outcome for these patients. Good nursing care can dramatically improve quality of life for these children.
