We have a FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY to provide senior clinical support in the South Derbyshire Wound Clinics.

We are looking for an established Band 6 or a Band 5 with significant post-registration experience.

You must have a desire to promote and provide clinical excellence supporting staff providing lower limb assessment and a variety of wound care.

This full time Band 6 post will require a proactive and energetic individual who can systematically manage teams clinical competencies.

You must be a Registered Nurse with a prescribing qualification (or willing to undertake), have wound care/vascular/dermatology experience within Band 6/experienced Band 5 role.

We are passionate about the care we provide to be the very best and are looking for candidates who will support us in developing our wound care and lower limb treatment, providing the very best evidenced-based quality patient care and develop quality patient standards.

The South Derbyshire Wound Clinic team provide care at Swadlincote Health Centre Monday - Sunday (and Bank Holidays) and Repton Health Centre Monday- Friday, all 08.30 - 4.30.

(2024/25 pay award is due to be reflected in pay from October 2024, with any arrears due paid in November 2024)

Main duties of the job

Provide high-quality, evidence-based patient care.

Support Lead Nurses in managing caseloads effectively and efficiently.

Support junior staff development and promote clinical excellence and quality assurance.

Work with the Wound Clinic Lead Nurses supporting the team through changes and developments.

Act as a champion for the wound clinic service area and attend wound care improvement groups.

Be aware of current local and national issues which are influencing services.

Facilitate, develop, evaluate and share good working practice.

Support Wound Clinic Leads to ensure teams are informed of development and changes through regular staff meetings using a variety of communication techniques.

Provide learning opportunities and experiences for team members and others, promoting a positive learning environment with a particular awareness of the needs of staff new to the Wound Clinic setting.

Participate in service development and audit as required especially evidencing wound healing rates within the clinic environment.

Actively support the development of a culture that is open to change and innovation.

Provide highly specialized nursing care to individuals with complex needs making use of current evidence to inform the delivery and promote the development of clinically effective care.

Support Caseload Management. Monitor standards of care, deploying and supervising team members as appropriate and the daily clinical patient care.

Co-ordinate the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care programs which reflect the individual needs of patients.

Plan, implement and evaluate a learning contract for student nurses involving multi-disciplinary agencies.

Be involved in the education and training of junior staff and other staff employed within the care settings.

Have the initiative to respond to challenging unpredictable situations/behaviours within the caring environments

Help manage any complaints, errors, concerns and other untoward occurrences in line with local policies, procedures and guidelines.( this includes issues relating Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and Children)

Know when to escalate clinical or operational issues to direct line manager.

Co-ordinate the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of Care Plans that reflect the individual needs of patients that meet best practice using advocated tools/systems as required.

Maintain confidentiality.

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse
  • Evidence of recent and ongoing CPD/learning
  • Recognised qualification in TV at Degree level or willing to work towards it (Wound management and/or leg ulcer modules)
  • V300 prescriber or willing to work towards
  • DCHS Tissue Viability training including 2-day lower limb


Experience and Knowledge Required

Essential

  • Experience in a Band 5/Band 6 role
  • Broad range of clinical skills
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Knowledge on National/Local Tissue Viability initiatives, guidance, and policies


Desirable

  • Experience in participating/ coordinating in Audit projects
  • Case load management
  • Clinical management experience
  • Experience of working in Wound Clinics
