We are looking to recruit a confident and experienced Consultant Psychological Professional/Specialist Lead in Systemic and Group Therapies who is passionate about working systemically with staff and service users across East London. You will be responsible for proposing and implementing consultancy and reflective practice within teams across the Trust to support team functioning and indirect approaches with staff.

This exciting role sits within a Specialist Training Hub of lead psychological professionals alongside the Director of Psychological Professions in the Trust. It will also have a clinical element based in the Specialist Psychotherapy Service in City & Hackney where the post holder can develop a role taking into account their area of expertise. This will be discussed with you at interview and on appointment to be in line with your experience and service needs. It will be based on your prior experience and expertise in psychodynamic/systemic and other psychotherapeutic work.

Main duties of the job

The main functions of this role are:

1. To lead on development and support for group and systemic therapies across East London, including Reflective Practice for, and consultation to, staff teams;

2. To have a lead role in accordance with clinical specialism in the Leadership of Psychological and Psychotherapeutic Services in City and Hackney.

Person Specification Education/ Qualification/ Training Essential
  • oProfessional Masters or above qualification in Systemic Psychotherapy Or oPost Graduate Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology or equivalent accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Desirable
  • oSupervisory qualification in Systemic Psychotherapy
  • oSupervisory qualification in Group Therapy
  • oRelevant further specialist training in psychodynamic therapy.
  • oReflective practice in organisations qualification.

Experience of Essential
  • oWork as qualified Psychological Therapist including substantial post-qualification experience within Adult Mental Health.
  • oExperience of the application of therapy in different cultural contexts and passion to improve inclusivity and diversity.
  • oDeveloping and delivering therapeutic interventions in various formats including individual, family and group.
  • oWorking with a wide variety of service user groups across the whole life course and presenting problems which reflect the full range of clinical severity.
  • oSupervising qualified psychological professionals and other staff working in mental health settings.
  • oProviding specialist group supervision
  • oProviding reflective practice and consulting to facilitate staff support and team functioning.
  • oMultidisciplinary team working.
  • oExperience of leadership and/or management.
  • oExperience of training and teaching.
Desirable
  • oExperience of work in a multi-cultural setting including work with interpreters.
Knowledge and Skills Essential
  • oHighly developed skills in the effective communication of highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to a wide variety of recipients in a range of settings within and outside the NHS, including the ability to produce comprehensive and coherent letters, reports and associated documentation.
  • oAbility to interpret, report and respond to performance and outcome data at all levels of the Trust.
  • oHighly developed communication skills aimed at overcoming barriers to understanding and acceptance.
  • oAbility to contribute substantively to the work of Directorate and Trust level senior management teams and to engage effectively with commissioners.
Desirable
  • oKnowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies in complex developmental trauma, and stigmatized individuals attracting diagnoses of eg complex needs, personality disorder, psychosis, dual diagnosis. Persons with additional disabilities
