Responsible to the Focused Support Team Manager, the post holder will act as a key worker for children and young people admitted to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital / Managed Clinical Services, (RMCH/MCS) with mental health presentations. To improve the quality of care received by individuals with a Mental Health need in the acute children's hospital setting (not within CAMHS inpatient facilities). To promote and support the use of the accessible communication methods, Communication Passport and reasonable adjustment care planning. To support service delivery for Children and Young People with Mental Health (MH) needs, providing guidance, teaching and specialist knowledge to their families/carers and to staff. To deliver and help the Team Manager in developing a strategy for children in hospital with Mental Health needs.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will become a Mental Health Specialist Nurse in the Focused Support Team which will work closely alongside the RMCH and Managed Clinical Services (MCS), Education Team to develop and deliver on an Education Strategy in RMCH/MCS, as well as support day to day care delivery in the acute wards providing leadership and expertise in the assessment, care planning and care delivery in conjunction with promoting the needs and rights of young people with mental health presentations.

Specialty support for teams members will be provided through 1:1 supervision with focused support team manager.
