The post holder will work systematically in exercising their professional skills and responsibilities to provide psychological services and expertise in the (CAMHS) Neurodiversity Pathway.The post holder will contribute professional expertise to the provision of assessment and intervention for children and young people who require a specialist Neuro developmental assessment and CAMHS intervention. In addition, they will provide consultation and training to other agencies and assist in the development of systems of audit/evaluation of the team. This post holder will supervise assistant clinical psychologists/research assistants, trainee psychologist and particular pieces of work conducted by others according to skills and experience.

Main duties of the job

1.The post holder will organise and provide direct specialist psychological assessments of children and young people with Neurodiversity (including learning disability) or waiting to undergo neurodiversity assessment but are presenting with symptoms inline with diagnosis. The child or young person will have complex mental health needs. The post holder will be responsible for, developing formulations and appraising the suitability of various forms of psychological intervention. A range of specialist assessment techniques will be used including psychometric testing, specialist neuro developmental and attachment assessments.2.The post holder will organise, develop, provide and manage psychological interventions to individuals or groups. A range of psychological interventions will be provided to children and young people and their families. The post holder will also be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of this work, and contribute to improving the quality of their own and others work. 3.The post holder will, as requested, take responsibility for the supervision of assistant clinical psychologists, trainee psychologists and undergraduate students on placement.

• To improve children and young peoples mental health through the effective management of the health and social care component of a Multi-disciplinary CAMHS Service for children and young people (CYP) providing safe, culturally competent, effective, cost efficient, timely and accessible services that are in accordance with national and local priorities and responsive to the needs and views of local children, young people and their families.

• To provide highly specialist clinical practice input to the team, delivering practice within best evidence and to the highest possible standard.

Experience

Essential

• Clinical experience as a child clinical psychologist during or after training
• Experience of multidisciplinary/ multiagency working
• Experience of delivering training
• Experience of working with multi-agencies in safeguarding systems
• Experience of working with children / young people who have a neurodiversity

Desirable

• Clinical experience within a CAMHs department.
• Experience of training and supervising psychology assistants / undergraduates.

Skills

Essential

• Complex psychological assessment, case planning, intervention and evaluation skills
• Skills in clinical formulation and diagnoses
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Competence in research/audit and evaluation

Desirable

• Ability to represent psychology within a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

Essential

• Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
• Professional registration with the HCPC
• Eligible for membership of the Clinical Psychology division of the BPS

Desirable

• Additional qualification in psychological therapy or assessment

Knowledge

Essential

• Competent in clinical psychology practices and theory
• Ability to use test equipment and carry out psychometric assessment
• Competent in a variety of models of psychological intervention
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and documentation pertaining to children

Desirable

• Computer literate and knowledge of statistical packages
