Job Title: Community Mental Health Nurse

Salary Band: Band 5

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours (Part time would be considered)

Location: Newtown House, Eastleigh

Are you ready for a new challenge and/or the opportunity to work within a Community setting? An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 registered Mental Health Nurse to join the Older Persons Community Mental Health Team based at Newtown House in Eastleigh. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Practitioner who has an interest in working with older people with mental health problems. The team aspires to deliver high quality care to our patients as well as being a supportive environment, giving all staff the opportunity for learning and development.

Currently the OPMH transformation team are focusing on development of the following areas:
  • Memory Assessment Service
  • In Reach/Liaison Services
  • Crisis Service
  • Functional Pathway

if you have a keen interest in any of these areas then now is the time to join and influence the development and delivery of these pathways. There are also potential research opportunities linking into the world renowned Memory Assessment Research Centre based at Moorgreen Hospital.

As a practitioner we will support you to develop your career in the direction you want to go. There are various post qualifying courses available and we have several practitioners currently undertaking the ACP training programme.

The supportive leadership team promote the development of our services to provide the best outcomes for our patients and we know that to achieve this we need to invest in our staff through creating a good working environment and providing extensive training opportunities. We are also open to flexible ways of working with hybrid working available.

Key aspects of the role include:
  • Carrying Clinical Caseload
  • Contributing to the process of service user’s ongoing assessment
  • Delivering community interventions
  • Formulating care plans in line with assessed need
  • Working in a manner which is helpful to the service user and the referrer, based on principles of recovery, personalisation and choice.
  • Working with individuals in the least restrictive manner possible.

Ability to drive and use of a car for work purpose is essential in this role.
