An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Evelina London Children's Hospital as Assistant General Manager for Evelina London Outpatients, Networks, and Therapies.

This role is an exciting chance to work closely with the Service Managers and Directorate Management Teams to support services in the delivery of their Business Plans relating to outpatient appointments and network clinics. Both of which are key aspects to the development of Evelina London Children's Hospital and the care provided to patients throughout South East England.

Main duties of the job

The post demands a proactive and creative approach in order to support the services across Evelina London and ensure the smooth running of both outpatients and associated network clinics in a demanding and rewarding atmosphere.

The successful candidate will be adaptable, have excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, have excellent communication skills, good attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.

The post holder will oversee the work of the outpatient, therapies and network A& C team and will also work closely with the clinical leads and teams.

The post holder must be IT literate and have the ability to navigate trust IT systems as well as monitor the utilisation of outpatient clinics for some services.

Job responsibilities

Outpatients

The Assistant General Manager will have oversight for the day-to-day management of all operational issues across Evelina London Childrens Hospital Outpatient Department, lead on a programme of improvements across the service and work with services to manage and develop their network portfolios (a key strategy at the Evelina London). The post holder will have to ensure the effective provision of outpatients in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints.

Therapies

The Assistant General Manager will be responsible for the delivery of a range of AHP (allied health professional) and Psychology services. This will involve delivering against targets in a range of service areas.

The postholder will be responsible for the below service areas within Evelina London:
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Dietetics
  • Physiotherapy
  • Psychology


Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to masters level or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
  • Evidence of continuing education and development


Desirable

  • Lean methodology belt qualification


Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrable operational management experience in the health service, with at least significant experience managing large groups of staff
  • Working across and leading Trust wide projects


Desirable

  • Evidence of using lean methodology to support service improvements


Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create conditions for successful partnership working
  • Ability to analyse complex problems and to develop practical and workable solutions to address them
  • Demonstrates achievements in managing change
