Situated on the outskirts of the popular seaside resort of Blackpool just off junction 4 of the M55 with quick and easy motorway links to the rest of Lancashire and The South Lakes The Harbour is the Trusts flagship mental health inpatient unit. Officially opened in 2015 the unit is a state of the art building from which a high quality, holistic and needs led service is delivered.

In total there are 154 beds across 10 wards and four different specialities (Dementia, Older Adult Functional, Adult Functional and PICU). The unit will also soon have a newly improved Section 136 Suite.

Parking at The Harbour is free and there is a range of high quality food served between 9am and 4pm daily from our on-site Caf which is open to both staff and patients.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited from experienced and self-motivated qualified nurses with leadership qualities and a passion for developing staff of all grades and from a variety of differing health professions.

The post is to support clinicians and managers in developing quality mental health services that reflect contemporary practice and complement the aspirations of national guidance and local health improvement programmes, whilst meeting the Trusts Clinical Governance agenda.

To lead and support practice development initiatives prioritised in inpatient services as required to facilitate the delivery of evidence based high quality care.

To take a lead on the internal Preceptorship Programme, planning and delivering training to help our newly qualified nurses make the transition from student to registered professional smoothly.

To develop systems of benchmarking, audit and evaluation in order to measure and monitor standards of practice as part of the inpatient clinical governance team.

All applicants must have an interest and skills in developing others and some experience of teaching or presenting to others would be advantageous.
