An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and caring neonatal nurse to join our well established and friendly neonatal multidisciplinary team.

We are a Local Neonatal Unit within the busy in North Central & East London Operational Delivery Neonatal Network and actively participate in Network groups and business.We are passionate about working in partnership with parents and delivering safe family centered care. Our Neonatal unit has 24 cots, which is comprised of 2 intensive cots, 6 high dependency cots and 16 special care costs. Designated LNU, (Level 2) we provide excellent care for preterm babies from 27 weeks' gestation and for sick new-born babies. We provide stabilization for babies at born at lower gestations prior to transfer to NICU.In order to apply you need to be RN/RSCN/RM with neonatal qualifications and skills. You will be joining a team who work a variety of shifts including internal rotation to night duty, weekends and bank holidays. Main duties of the job

The role requires you to deliver high standard holistic care to all babies allocated to you.

You will be expected to maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures.

You will also be responsible for the safe custody of medication, including checking and administration.

You will need to ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, and champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC registration RN / RSCN/RM
  • Neonatal Intensive Course
  • Evidence of continuous professional development within the speciality linked to demonstrable clinical competencies
  • Student supervision and assessment qualification


Desirable

  • Educated to degree level in a health related subject
  • NLS provider certificate


Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Neonatal nursing skills including caring for baby receiving ITU/ HDU level of care
  • Administering medication under patient group/ specific directives
  • Administration of IV Drugs
  • Ability to delegate and prioritise
  • Able to work across professional team and organisational boundaries
  • Able to problem solve and initiate change
  • Shift leading skills including ability to motivate and lead a small group of nurses
  • Teaching/ training skills including preceptorship skills
  • Effective Managerial, leadership and organisational skills
  • Holistic understanding of neonatal nursing and relevant specialist skill and abilities to work in partnership with families

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of recent neonatal nursing experience
  • Knowledge of children's safeguarding- risk factors and protective factors
  • Knowledge of NHS led community services that support families including monitoring baby's growth and development
  • oKnowledge and experience of coordinating and managing individualised patient care


Desirable

  • Experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints
  • Knowledge of research and audit
