Main duties of the job

To provide excellent, high-quality person-centred clinical care that advocates for patients, strive to provide a service fit for today and the future, develop personal leadership to support clinical growth. The post holder will be the Clinical Specialist to support and facilitate the ED / Acute Occupational Therapy Service with key roles in the development of a competent, knowledgeable workforce, equipping them to provide high-quality person-centred care.

Qualifications

Essential

• Diploma / degree in OT recognised by College of OT
• H.C.P.C Registered OT
• Evidence of post graduate training in the relevant clinical field

Desirable

• Evidence of Relevant postgraduate courses
• Study for a MSc

Skills

Essential

• Familiar with RCOT documentation guidelines (SOAP)
• Ability to work in and manage a team, in Managers absence

Desirable

• Evidence of Clinical Audit and EBP
• Critical Appraisal skills
• Presentation skills
• Teaching/lecturing skills
• First line Management skills e.g. Conflict resolution, Recruitment & retention

Experience

Essential

• Experienced Supervisor - staff and students
• Working knowledge specialty anatomy and physiology
• Expert Assessment, treatment planning and goal setting in the acute hospital setting
• Working within ED in an acute hospital NHS setting
• Support junior staff in managing their caseload

Desirable

• Previous experience as a band 7 occupational therapist or equivalent.
