Salford CAMHS are looking for passionate, skilled, and ambitious CAMHS practitioner who has extensive clinical experience and is qualified as, or in the process of qualifying as a Non Medical Prescriber. The service provides specialist neurodevelopmental assessments for children and young people as well as treatment and support via our medication pathway.

As an NMP and neurodevelopmental practitioner you will need to be experienced working with children and young people who have a diagnosis or are being assessed for neurodevelopmental conditions. You will contribute to the post diagnostic support needed and offer signposting and consultation and training as appropriate.

The successful candidate will join our multidisciplinary CAMH's Team in Salford and work alongside a wide range of colleagues from nursing, speech and language therapy, social work and psychology. They will be joining a warm, dynamic and hardworking team who look after each other and have a range of excellent skill, knowledge and experience to share with you.

Dependent upon experience and interests the post holder will be supported to develop a job plan which will allow for development of prescribing skills alongside generic CAMHS assessments, formulation building and therapeutic interventions. We offer excellent training opportunities and regular supervision.

Main duties of the job

You will offer assessment for complex mental health needs and levels of risk, including safeguarding and self-harm.

You will offer prescribing clinics, involving initiation and titration dependent upon qualifications and experience and alongside colleagues in the multi disciplinary in the team. You will be responsible for delivering evidence based and medication interventions in line with national guidance and care pathways.

You will manage your own caseload, providing a range of high quality care appropriate to the child or young person's needs which will include mental state assessment, risk assessment and management, family and social assessment, consultation and interventions.

You must be confident and experienced in communication, due to the high level of liaison needed between CAMHS and other services and be willing to work flexibly in accordance with the needs of the young people.

You will provide therapeutic intervention for children, young people and their families.

You will offer consultation for schools and partner agencies.

You will provide advice via an allocated duty slot within the service.

Person Specification

Registration and Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nursing: RMN/RSCN/RNMH
  • Independent and Supplementary Non-Medical Prescribing
  • Relevant post graduate qualification or training in area relevant to service delivery


Desirable

  • Qualifications in Psychological Therapies to Diploma or Masters level e.g. CBT / SFT/ IPT
  • Mentorship course ENB998 or equivalent
  • Leadership Qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience of working effectively with children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions and additional mental health difficulties providing both assessment and intervention
  • Substantial experience of working effectively with people with mental health difficulties, including experience of delivering specialist skills in at least one therapeutic modality
  • Extensive experience of case management, including experience of assessing and managing risk: including safeguarding
  • Experience of liaison and working with a range of other relevant agencies and professionals
  • Experience of mentoring and supervision of others


Desirable

  • Experience of working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health
  • Evidence of project management experience
  • Delivery of training and consultation


Knowledge, Skills and Ability

Essential

  • Ability to carry out and monitor effective ADHD assessments, treatments and therapies including understanding of potential unwanted side effects from medication
  • Ability to perform complex diagnostic assessments as an autonomous practitioner across a range of mental health conditions
  • Ability to identify and manage risk in individuals presenting with mental health needs
  • Highly developed knowledge of evidence-based practice across a range of therapeutic interventions with this client group
  • Able to foster partnerships and working relationships with other professional networks
  • To have the ability to manage own caseload and act as lead practitioner
  • Able to demonstrate and understanding, acceptance of and commitment to the principles underlying equal opportunities, treating every person with respect
