To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Radiology Information Technology (I.T) Systems within the Department. The post holder will assist in the development of the

I.T and the delivery of a high quality I.T service ensuring the provision of the highest standards of patient care in accordance with standards, protocols and procedures. Act as point of contact for all matters regarding the I.T within the department.

Main duties of the job

  • To co-ordinate the day-to-day management of the IT systems within Radiology to include the Radiology Information System (RIS) and the Picture Archive Communicating System (PACS), ensuring the smooth efficient running of the systems and their interfaces.
  • To set up and maintain masterfiles and coded lists, ensuring consistency between RIS, PACS and the electronic patient record (EPR). Eliminating duplicates and ensuring national and local coding requirements are correctly implemented
  • To be responsible for the maintenance and quality control of the image store database and production of accurate and timely radiology reports, including all backup systems, such as the daily reconcile of patient files on the archive manager
  • To manage and review the systems utilisation, user privileges, control of user access and interrogation of the system databases for statistical needs.

Education & Qualifications

Desirable

  • DCR or BSc ( Radiography)/or equivalent IT qualification
  • HCPC registration


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential

  • Broad range of IT skills within Radiology and up to date knowledge of current practices
  • Ability to provide data to assist in service development And national audit
  • Ability to produce high quality work and to problem solve


Desirable

  • Able to manipulate excel or SQL data analysis tools


Experience

Essential

  • To be able to develop protocols/ operational policies.
  • Good general experience and understanding of patient flow through a radiology department.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
