We are looking to appoint an Orthopaedic Elderly Care Liaison Specialist Nurse at Ipswich Hospital, working mainly alongside the Needham ward team and the orthogeriatrician. You will preferably have existing knowledge and skills in trauma and orthopaedics and care of the elderly. Proven leadership experience at a Band 6 or above is desirable but you will need to be able to demonstrate that they can work as part of the MDT but also autonomously.

Main duties of the job
- To establish and develop skilled practice in the multidisciplinary management and nursing care of adult patients admitted with a fragility fracture.
- Continuously prioritise workload and activity of patients.
- Provide support to staff in directorate in awareness, assessment and treatment of osteoporosis, fractures and falls.
- To provide individualised cognitive assessments of elderly post-trauma patients, e.g. 4AT
- To independently perform and be responsible for the various diagnostic assessments required for this patient group.
