Main duties of the job

The IV Service cares for patients in both clinic settings and their own homes throughout the West Sussex area.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality care within a community setting, working towards patient rehabilitation, self-management, and independence. This role involves managing the day-to-day clinical needs of an identified caseload, undertaking initial assessments, and ongoing management of IV therapy.

Job description

Job responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality care within the community setting, focusing on intravenous therapy.
• Manage day-to-day clinical needs of an identified caseload under the guidance of the IV Nurse.
• Conduct holistic assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate patient progress.
• Act as an information resource for patients, their families, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Empower patients to participate in their care, encouraging self-management and independence.
• Ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures, maintaining high standards of clinical documentation and data protection.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification/degree or diploma
• Evidence of a range of clinical competencies appropriate to the role

Desirable

• ENB 998/Mentorship or equivalent or work towards

Experience

Essential

• 1 year post registration experience
• Clinical experience of IV therapy delivery and management of vascular access devices

Desirable

• Experience in a community setting is desirable

Skills

Essential

• Evidence of good numeracy and literacy skills
• Demonstrates competency in a range of clinical skills including: IV administration, cannulation and venepuncture.
• IT literate or willing to achieve competency

Desirable

• Experience / Proficiency with cannulation or willingness to learn.
