We are seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Band 7 Podiatrist to work within the Integrated Specialist Podiatry Service at Bolton Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Podiatrist with leadership skills and a passion for the high risk foot. The service is forward thinking, supportive and experienced with a wide skill mix and we are proud of our service and achievements. We work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and provide regular session's for: podiatric surgery, ulcer management, peripheral arterial disease assessment, microbiology and musculoskeletal assessments.
We go the extra mile to ensure compassionate and personalised patient-centred care, improving service users' independence and wellbeing. The successful candidate will work closely with the Team Leader, Advanced Clinical Practitioner and other Band 7 Podiatrists to support the operational running of the team, support strategic objectives within the Podiatry Department and lead on the delivery of high quality, accessible and timely podiatric intervention to a caseload of at risk patients presenting with a combination of high risk/complex, chronic and acute foot health needs.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will act as a source of expertise in the management of highly complex foot problems within the podiatry service and in the multi-disciplinary setting. You will work closely with the Diabetes MDT, Tissue Viability Specialists, Vascular MDT, GP's, Ward staff and District Nursing staff and will be responsible for training and providing mentorship and clinical supervision to podiatrists, podiatry students and other health care professionals in the management of complex high risk foot wounds.
The role will be to work as an autonomous practitioner. You will be expected to work across community settings (including domiciliary and the Bolton Diabetes Centre) and the acute hospital site, assessing and treating a range of patients with diverse presentations and ensuring seamless care across settings. You will develop and continually review and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and discharge strategies to improve the patient care experience and ensure a patient centred service delivery model. You will be supported by the Podiatry Professional Lead as well as the Podiatry Team Leader and Principal Service Lead for Therapies.

- To work as an autonomous practitioner within the service being professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your work
- To manage a complex caseload, using evidence based, client centred principles to provide highly specialised assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation and co-ordination of therapy intervention, for complex physical and psychological conditions in the most appropriate setting.
- To initiate your own continued professional development through researching best practice, networking with colleagues and seeking training opportunities and support/clinical supervision sessions.
- To be responsible for training, supervision and appraisal for all staff in specialist area and to be responsible for the training and performance management of therapy students.
- To identify, initiate and implement service development working across domiciliary, community and hospital sites and integrating these services.
- To provide highly specialist knowledge, skills and advice to clients, and be a source of expertise for therapy staff, other members of the MDT and other agencies.
- Provide specialist training to both Podiatrists and other professionals as required.
- To lead a specialist area of clinical expertise and propose service changes which may impact on the wider MDT and ensure safe delivery of a quality service.

- Diploma/Degree in Podiatric Medicine
- Registration with the Health Professions Council
- NMP qualification (or working towards)
- Short specialist courses at master's level or equivalent, relevant to wound care / tissue viability

- Broad base of clinical Podiatric experience prior to specialising, and extensive experience of working in the area of tissue viability / wound care
