We are seeking to appoint a Non-Medical Consultant Cardiac Physiologist to lead and further develop our cardiac rhythm management service. Applications are welcomed from an Enthusiastic, Self -Motivated, Experienced physiologist who is keen to accept the challenges this new role will bring. The successful candidate will join the senior clinical-management team and be closely involved in developing future service design and delivery, the weekly job plan will include some fixed clinical sessions although there will be timetabled sessions to allow strategic planning/research/service development.

This opportunity to develop your skills within Cardiac Physiology as a true clinical leader who is engaged in service delivery and future design of service delivery is truly unique.

Main duties of the job

The post holder takes responsibility for the strategic planning and high level provision of specialist cardiac rhythm management services they will maintain their own consultant level specialist caseload in addition to providing highly specialised/expert advice to medical colleagues on complex cases.

The post holder is responsible for identifying, advising on and introducing service developments and implementing changes to practice in the field based on evidence based research and best practice guidance. The post holder is a member of the Cardiac Physiology management team.

The post holder will act as lead on specific Cardiac Rhythm Based based projects and initiates own research and development activity, they will provide specialist training to multi-disciplinary teams and trainees as appropriate.

Person Specification

Education

Essential

  • MSc Cardiac/healthcare science (or Equivalence)
  • Intermediate Life Support Regular attendance at professional bodies' educational meetings (BHRS, BCS, etc) Accredited member of relevant professional body


Desirable

  • PhD
  • State Registration Academy of Healthcare Science or HCPC


Experience

Essential

  • Qualifying length of service for state registration in cardiac physiology. Delivers local and national education at BSc/MSc/PhD level Invasive and non-invasive cardiac physiology practise. Demonstrable sufficient experience at expert independent level in echocardiography Practises a wide range of specialist cardiac physiology diagnostics and interventions. Experience of teaching individuals and lecturing to groups. Communicates complex and sometimes distressing information to patients and carers in an appropriate manner commensurate with their understanding and prior knowledge whilst maintaining patient confidentiality. Experience of successful team management.
