We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, passionate and motivated perinatal community practitioner to join our expanding Perinatal Mental Health Team. Applications welcomed from mental health nursing, social worker and occupational therapists. We are a specialist service that strives to deliver excellent standards of care to expectant and new mothers with severe and complex mental health problems

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of expanding service and to help shape the future of perinatal mental health care in Shropshire. You will be joining a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team with extensive training opportunities along with regular supervision, reflective practice and opportunity for career progression. Perinatal and maternal mental health services in Shropshire won The Positive Practice in Mental Health (PPiMH) Award in 2021.

As a member of the team you would provide specialist assessments and interventions to women and families during pregnancy, delivery and up to 24 months postpartum. The post holder will continue to develop upon our strong links with Midwifery, Health Visiting, Maternal Mental Health Service, Family Nurse Partnership, Adult Mental Health, IAPT, CAMHS services and voluntary sectors.

Our collective agreed vision, towards which we all strive, is that all women, babies and families in Shropshire have easy access to the very best care for their mental health during pregnancy and postnatally

Our collective agreed values are:
  • Be patient and child centred, understanding and meeting individual and population needs, with high quality, evidence based and innovative approaches to care of patients, babies and their families.
  • Work flexibly, collaboratively, transparently and honestly with women, families, and others involved in their care, with respect and trust for each other’s experience, knowledge, skills and contributions.
  • Support each other in delivering and continuously improving care to our whole population, nurturing our empowerment, enthusiasm and motivation.

The PMHT cover Telford and Shropshire area. The team base is in Bridgnorth. We have adapted to new ways of working due to pandemic, and some of the blended working developments will continue as clinically indicated. The team works closely with the Brockington Mother and Baby Unit in Stafford, and with the Staffordshire Community Perinatal Mental Health Team.

We welcome applications from everyone, irrespective of ethnic origin, disability, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, marital status, social background or trade union membership. However, as members of ethnicity minority groups and individuals with disabilities are currently under-represented, we would encourage applications from members of these groups.
