Duties include leading and co-ordinating the colposcopy service at Whipps cross hospital maintaining national standards for patient safety and clinical practice, including writing and reporting national reports.

Work with the Clinical Lead Colposcopist and wider team in colposcopy to support the development and delivery of the cervical screening service in accordance with NHS England Service specifications.

Responsible for the effective and efficient operational management of Specialist Gynaecology Outpatient department on a day-to-day basis.

Provide senior clinical leadership, expertise, advice, and support to the nursing and wider multi-professional team to facilitate the effective delivery of care to patients at all times.

The post holder must have extensive theoretical & practical experience of the clinical skills required to run independent nurse led clinics.

The post holder will provide clinical and professional advice at Directorate/ Divisional and Trust level.

The post holder will participate in the training of colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will take full responsibility for the effective running of thecolposcopy service and delivery of integrated care to women.o The post holder will have an in-depth knowledge of the NHS cervical screeningprogramme, gynecology and health promotion. They will be responsible for theco-ordination of all activities within the Colposcopy service workingcollaboratively with and alongside the colposcopy team.o The post holder will work in partnership with the Colposcopy lead consultantand the Clinical Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology to deliver the clinicalobjectives of the Colposcopy and Gynaecology service.o The post holder will be accredited experienced nurse colposcopist and act asan autonomous practitioner in undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic clinicsessions, taking responsibility and accountability for appropriate clinicalmanagement and care programmes. The post holder is to work closely withthe Matron for Gynaecology and share responsibility for the standards andevaluation of training and supervision of nursing staff within the service.o The post holder will participate in the collaborative management of theColposcopy service within the Gynaecology Service and is recognised as a keymember of the senior nursing management team.

  • oSubstantial experience at Band 7 or above working within a clinical specialist environment.

  • oLeadership and initiative skills.
  • oAdvanced organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of development.
  • oAbility to work autonomously while coordinating and liaising with other professionals whenever required.
  • oDemonstrate an ability to integrate nursing knowledge and skills with the clinical aspects of the job
  • oCompetence in word/database related PC packages.


Desirable

Qualifications

Essential

  • oRegistered nurse.
  • oBSCCP/RCOG accreditation in diagnostic and therapeutic colposcopy.
  • oBSCCP accredited trainer
  • oSpecialist post registration courses in Gynaecology/ Sexual Health
