We have a great opportunity for an experienced clinical pharmacist with a strong background in clinical pharmacy, quality improvement and innovation to develop their career at a senior level, through joining our dynamic pharmacy team.

This post requires a motivated pharmacist who has the drive and determination required to implement change.

If you have service delivery experience and possess well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, we can offer you a challenging, but fulfilling role, with career support and development.

You will provide a high-quality clinical pharmacy service, participate in training of healthcare professionals and contribute to the planning and delivery of the medicine's optimization strategy.

The innovative and friendly pharmacy team is well established within the health board. We are both ambitious and motivated, focusing our work around the best interests of our patients and continuously striving to improve the services we offer. The Pharmacy Department currently employs approximately 30 Staff.

The clinical pharmacy service to the wards is well established and provides high quality care across a variety of specialties including admissions, medicine, surgery, critical care, paediatrics and oncology.

Main duties of the job

To lead, plan, manage, and continue to develop an exemplary clinical pharmacy service to the hospital, in accordance with local and national standards and strategy, and to meet the changing needs of patients and other users of the service.

Contribute to the strategic planning of the pharmacy service and implementation of service objectives.

Develop a competent, motivated and versatile clinical pharmacy workforce across the service, facilitating their development through training and performance reviews to ensure all members of the clinical Pharmacy Team are trained and competent for their role.

Work with the Pharmacy site manager and other Clinical Lead Pharmacists to ensure strategic plans are delivered and resources are utilised safely, efficiently and effectively.

To monitor and ensure the safe and effective use of medicines used within the hospital, to deliver high standards of medicine related aspects of patient care, whilst promoting quality, safety and economy.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifiaction and knowledge

Essential

  • Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Postgraduate Msc/diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Registered with the GPhC
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • If role includes medical gas testing: registered as QC(MGPS)


Desirable

  • Recognised management qualification
  • Recognised postgraduate research qualification
  • Independent prescriber
  • RPS Faculty member at AS11
  • Experience of being a Pre-Registration tutor
  • Experience of being a pharmacy diploma tutor
  • MSc Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance if aseptics is specialist field


Language Skills

Desirable

  • Welsh Speaker (level 1)


Experience

Essential

  • Substantial postgraduate experience as a pharmacist.
  • Evidence of clinical audit service improvement, practise research, implementation of procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of strategic plans for pharmacy Services/ development.
  • Good understanding of HR policies and employment legislation to be able to recruit and manage staff.
  • Proven change management experience with evaluation
  • Effective management of staff and undertaking staff appraisal
  • Experience to diploma level in specialist area.
  • Experience as Accountable Pharmacist if aseptics is specialist field
  • Experience as Accountable Pharmacist if Radiopharmacy is specialist field.


Desirable

  • Experience of budget maintaing and monitoring
  • Experience of teaching, assessment and appraisal
  • Practice research experience.
