There has never been a more exciting time to part of our Trust team. Major redevelopment works on both sites at our Birmingham Children's Hospital and Birmingham Women's Hospital are planned. Our trust has been rated Good by the CQC and is world renowned for our care.
Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, based at our Women's hospital, is a leading Perinatal Centre and one of the largest Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the UK. We are the designated Neonatal Surgical Centre for West Midlands Operational Delivery Network and accept in-utero and post-natal transfers from throughout the West Midlands. We deliver outstanding care to some of the West Midlands sickest babies from 22 weeks gestation. As well as caring for new born babies with surgical conditions we also care for sick and premature new born babies with medical conditions and babies born with congenital abnormalities such as diaphragmatic hernia and cardiac lesions. We are host to the West Midlands Human Milk Bank and we serve a maternity department delivering 8,300 babies per annum.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced level 3 neonatal nurse who is already in a leadership position, to join for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS FT. We have excellent professional development opportunities and offer a family friendly environment for our local community and region. Successful applicants will have responsibility for leading, managing, financial and service delivery to the Neonatal Service which includes a 41 cot level 3 Neonatal Unit, our Transitional Care Unit, Baby Clinic and the Midlands Milk Bank, supported by our Head of Nursing. Care will be of the highest standard and our people will be well led, by a consistent and fair leader. The post holder will need a breath of skills be adaptable flexible able to organize own workload work clinical shifts if required and cover the hospital on call rota. While successful candidates will be based at our Women's Hospital there may be occasions where there is a need for working in the transport environment or at our Children's Hospital site.
There is close working with our partners across the Birmingham Local Maternity/Neonatal Service, and the West Midlands Operational Neonatal Network . We offer a family friendly environment for our local community and region.

- Specialist Neonatal award such as ENB 405, Neonatal Pathway, Paediatric Intensive Care First degree, level 6 study or equivalent Study at level 7 or willing to undertake Mentors qualification
- Registered Nurse, sub part one
- Extensive experience working in a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit or paediatric intensive care unit Experience working with discharge of complex babies home following a prolonged period in hospital at birth
- Extensive experience mentoring, supporting and managing a team at band 7 or 8 level Understanding of the principles of workforce planning Knowledge of the Governance and Risk frameworks required to deliver safe, high quality clinical care
