West Herts NHS Trust is looking for an experienced and qualified Audiologist to oversee and manage the Audiology service.
The post will be 22.5 hours with the prospective postholder working across all three hospital sites at Watford General, St Albans and Hemel Hempstead Hospitals.
Main duties of the job
The candidate must full fill the requirements in the person specification.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the demand and capacity of the adult audiology service, ensuring targets are adhered to. They will make key decisions on prioritising referrals and take corrective action to prevent breaches.
To have responsibility for the human resources, management of staff, including personal development, CPD, appraisals, training, performance and absence management. Clinical duties, equipment maintenance, calibration and replacement.
Recruitment of audiology staff, clinical and admin. An authorised signatory for the audiology service.

Person Specification
Education and qualifications:
Essential
- MSc in Audiological Science Plus CAC or CCC, or a BSc Audiology or BTEC qualification in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement and successfully completed both parts of BAAT I and II or equivalent.
- Evidence of CPD.
- Advanced courses in Audiology.
- oRegistered to practice as an audiologist / clinical scientist with either Health Care Professions Council [HCPC] or Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists [RCCP] or Academy of Healthcare Sciences (AHCS).
Desirable
- Diploma / Post grad certificate in management.
- HTEC in MPPM if applicable.
- British Sign Language Qualification.
- Deaf Awareness Qualification.
- Membership of BAA and / or BSA.
Knowledge:
Essential
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of audiology audit and advanced audiological test techniques.
- Up to date with current audiology issues locally.
Desirable
- An awareness of national audiology and NHS developments.
Experience:
Essential
- Qualified practitioner with significant NHS clinical experience as a Band 6 or 7 audiologist.
- Experience in a lead / deputy managerial role within audiology services.
- Responsible for areas of specialty within audiology and / or general administration.
- Experience of coordinating and running own clinic.
- Demonstrate operational managerial responsibility.
- Significant experience of working at a senior level demonstrating clinical competency within relevant clinical area.
- Experience in managing staff using performance management and appraisal disciplinary and sickness absence policies / procedures
- Evidence and experience of leading change demonstrating sustained improvements.
- Experience of staff management supervision and, service development and change management.
- Experience of recruitment of staff
- Experience in providing training to junior staff, related professionals and students
- Experience of ordering equipment, hearing aids and materials.
Desirable
- Experience of working towards and achieving IQIPS accreditation.
- Working towards MSc/ PhD or other post graduate qualification.
