Division B, non-malignant haematology are looking to appoint a highly motivated nurse with excellent communication skills to join our specialist nursing team. The thrombosis treatment team provide fast track service for patients with suspected deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in an outpatient setting via the urgent treatment centre.

The nurse-led team will provide excellent opportunities for learning, audit, research and professional development.

You will be expected to work independently and as part of a nurse led team providing individualised patient care. The role will include assessing patients for DVT, requesting diagnostic tests, reviewing results, patient education, initiating anticoagulation, and providing compression hosiery.

The thrombosis treatment team provide a 7 day service and you will be required to work a flexible rota including some weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is a recognised expert in the specialty, responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care programmes and undertaking specialist nursing procedures

Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff. This includes the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students

Responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence based care

Required to undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist area
