We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist seeking to develop their clinical experience and knowledge, and to strengthen their leadership and managerial skills within Rowan View, Medium Secure Unit. We are looking for a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our enthusiastic, innovative, and expanding Occupational Therapy team.

The post holder will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with patients, carers, the multidisciplinary team, and wider agencies, and will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues following an evidence-based OT process. The post holder will be responsible for providing high quality assessment, delivering treatment interventions plans, and evaluating outcomes for individuals with complex needs.

Supervision and line management will be provided by the Lead Occupational Therapist onsite during which you will have the opportunity to explore further training and qualifications to develop both personally and professionally. There are internal leadership programmes available, research opportunities with M-RIC, specialist clinical training opportunities, and B6 peer support groups to network and share knowledge and skills.

To support the delivery of high quality specialist assessment and intervention in the development of effective clinical services within a Medium Secure setting.

To meet the complex needs of people with learning disabilities and/or autism and/or mental illness.

Person Specification

Knowledge/experience

Essential

  • Varied fieldwork experience including mental health
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of core skills of occupational therapy and evidence of application in practice
  • Ability to work as a team member and to undertake additional duties in the absence of the Lead OT
  • In depth knowledge of assessment, treatment and evaluation
  • In depth knowledge of health and safety and risk management.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act
  • Experience as a Qualified Occupational Therapist
  • Ability to demonstrate Mersey Care Values and application in practice
  • Additional training (for example Sensory Integration, ESI, Trusted Assessor)


Desirable

  • Experience of facilitation of mentorship and clinical supervision of junior staff
  • Knowledge of VdT Model of Creative Ability and application in practice


Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Current Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registration
  • Post registration training in a therapeutic / intervention approach (e.g. Applied Behavioural Analysis and Intervention, CBT, SI, AMPS)
  • Portfolio of CPD
