Main duties of the job

Based at Northern General Hospital, your primary responsibility will be leading teams of staff at our main central cook chill food production facility, meal regeneration and retail catering.As well as experience in large scale catering production, you'll also need to demonstrate strategic thinking and effective operational management, including budgetary control, strong problem- solving skills and the ability to manage information and data effectively to influence decision making. With responsibility for over 150 staff exceptional communication skills and with solid experience of managing other people are a must.

Person Specification

Education and Qualification

Essential

• Relevant 1st degree or combination of training and experience within specialist field - e.g.hospitality, food and nutrition
• Degree in management and leadership or demonstrable equivalent experience
• Level 4 Food Safety qualification and understanding of current food law
• Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable

• HACCP qualification level 4
• Lead Auditor training qualification

Experience

Essential

• Significant Catering management experience within a large, complex organisation
• Food manufacturing, retail, hospitality management
• Change management experience
• Proven track record in managing operational staff.
• Knowledge and understanding of Quality management systems such as ISO9001:2015

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

• Effective leadership skills. Ability to communicate at all levels and motivate others. Ability to negotiate
• In depth knowledge of catering food service systems
• Ability to undertake administrative tasks and IT literacy in all Microsoft packages
• Knowledge and understanding of health and safety/food safety controls in the workplace
• Specialist knowledge in manufacturing of specialist diets
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret data
• Diversity and inclusivity training and awareness
