MFT CAMHS is dedicated to delivering a variety of systemic assessments and interventions for children, young people, and their families. We are currently looking to hire two experienced Senior Family and Systemic Psychotherapists for our Salford or Trafford CAMHS locations.

Joining our team means becoming part of a well-established network of Systemic Family Therapists (SFTs) and Systemic Family Practitioners (SFPs). Membership in this peer group includes:

- A solid supervision framework- Regular quarterly gatherings for the Manchester SFT and SFP network- Opportunities for teaching and training- Collaboration and supervision with colleagues from various professional backgrounds- The chance to connect with the Manchester division of the AFT (Association for Family Therapy)

Main duties of the job

In the role of Family Therapy, you will manage a clinical caseload, working directly with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental health challenges, often compounded by trauma, and who may be engaged with multiple agencies and services. The primary responsibilities include:

- Providing systemic psychotherapy independently at a specialist level.- Conducting comprehensive psychological and systemic assessments of children, young people, and families, including risk evaluation.- Offering written and verbal systemic formulations to support evidence-based clinical interventions for children, young people, and families with complex issues.- Implementing a specific care package of specialized therapeutic interventions, utilizing a wide range of systemic models.- Delivering expert one-on-one clinical consultations to other clinical staff regarding the application of Family Therapy and Systemic Psychotherapy, aiding in formulation and care planning, and collaborating with team members in the delivery of individual and group programs.- Assisting in the provision of guidance and consultancy to local teams and services of partner agencies, promoting the integration of informed systemic practice in their routine work with children, young people, and families.- Engaging in the supervision of newly qualified systemic psychotherapists and trainees.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Registration

Essential

  • Masters/Doctorate level in Systemic psychotherapy from a training institute recognised by the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice
  • Active United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registration as a systemic psychotherapist


Desirable

  • Additional qualifications in Psychological Intervetions
  • Leadership/supervision additonal training
  • Systemic supervision qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Experience in assessment and therapeutic work with children and families across the age range with a full range of presenting problems and across settings including community, outpatient and clinic settings
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment independently and within a multidisciplinary and multiagency context
  • Experience of consulting with health care and other professionals
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
  • Extensive experience of case management, including experience of assessing and managing risk: including safeguarding
  • Evidence of successful partnership working with other professional groups


Knowledge and skills

Essential

  • Skills in the use of complex methods of systemic assessment and treatment of individuals, couples family systems, groups and organisations
  • Knowledge of and skill in using a wide variety of systemic theories and interventions and the ability to use these appropriately in relation to client need and work setting
  • Up to date knowledge of child mental health and relevant legislation
  • Ability to integrate psychological theories and outcome data with clinical practice and service provision
  • Highly developed communication skills with the ability to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information and overcome barriers to acceptance with children, parents and professionals
  • Ability to plan, implement and evaluate appropriate therapeutic interventions with children across the age range and their parents/carers
  • The ability to work with people from a range of different backgrounds, cultures and or different ages
  • To be able to provide feedback and constructive guidance to junior members of the team and trainees to facilitate their personal and professional development
  • The ability to work independently with the support of clinical and management supervision
