An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Adult Learning Disabilities Directorate, for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist working across the directorate. Our directorate works across the three boroughs of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich.

Based at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, the post holder will have a caseload as part of the Bexley Team. They will also along support the delivery of clinical pathways across the directorate.

The post requires a person with: the ability to deliver occupation focussed assessment and interventions the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, be able to clearly communicate to others robust clinical reasoning and be able to consider the occupational impact on long term health outcomes.

You can expect to receive supervision, support and guidance as you develop the specialist skills for this role. Professional support and supervision will be provided from within the Bexley adult learning disability occupational therapy service. As a directorate we fully support undergraduate OT training programmes and accept students on practice placements as part of the London wide Fair Share model. There will be opportunities to support student placements.

In addition to the support, you will receive within the ALD directorate Oxleas has a robust preceptorship offer an established Band 5 support group.

Main duties of the job

  • To manage clinical caseload, of service users with a learning disability, working independently and without direct supervision.
  • To provide occupation focussed assessment and intervention(s).
  • To ensure clinical safety through contribution to and carrying out risk assessments, risk management plans, crisis plans and care plans.
  • To ensure that clinical records (notes, reports, risk assessments etc) are maintained in accordance with Professional and Trust standards.
  • To supervise the work of support workers and occupational therapy students on practice placement as required.
  • To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • To participate in service development and research/audit activities.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist


Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of assessing and delivery of Occupational Therapy


Desirable

  • Knowledge and awareness of Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions relevant to Adult Learning Disabilities
  • Experience of MDT working
  • Experience or knowledge of community working and risks


Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of CPD


Desirable

  • Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance.
  • Ability to organise own work diary and prioritise
